Annual Sledding Party 2018

Greetings all,
The Scandinavian American Club (SAC) would like to invite you to our annual Sledding and Potluck party on Sunday, February 18, 2018, at 2 pm. Please bring your own sled and dress for the occasion. If the snow is gone or if it’s too cold, we will still plan to meet and socialize (there are no bad weathers just bad clothes as the Scandinavians say 😉 ).
We will start with outdoor activities and then have the potluck meal later in the afternoon. If you would like to participate, please bring a dish to pass and your choice of beverage.

There is no need to RSVP but we would be grateful to hear if you plan to come and what you are planning to bring.

We hope you can join us at Kirsti Sorsa’s:

We will e-mail a regular invitation later with more specific information about time, suggestions for dishes to bring, etc. We will also in a later e-mail provide info on how to sign up to volunteer to help with different tasks related to or at the party. If you are interested in knowing more about the typical food we eat during Scandinavian Christmas please click here!

We will also in a later e-mail provide information on how to sign up to volunteer to help with different tasks related to the party. As a rather small organization we always appreciate your help in making these parties possible.

Norwegian Brunch & Bake Sale – Idun Lodge, Sons of Norway

The message below was from Dee Grimsrud of the Idun Lodge-Sons of Norway.

Sons of Norway-Idun Lodge will once again hold its popular Spring Frokost on Saturday, April 8th, 9 a.m. to noon, at the Norway Center, 2262 Winnebago St, Madison. Everyone is welcome to attend!

Included on the expansive buffet will be smoked salmon, ham, herring, boiled eggs, a variety of cheeses and breads, other home-baked delights (lefse, heart waffles), fruit soup, and beverages (coffee, juice, milk). Cost includes one return to the buffet for more of your favorites: $13.00 for adults, $6 for kids 6-12; free for ages 5 and under. Pay at the door; cash, check or credit card.

A separate Bake Sale will offer traditional coffee cakes, breads, yummy Norwegian cookies (such as rosettes, krumkake and sandbakkels), and potato lefse ($6 for 3 large rounds). Come early for the best selection. Most items freeze well to serve later, so here’s an opportunity to stock up!

Idun Lodge-Sons of Norway promotes and preserves the heritage and culture of Norway through its programs, special events, classes and scholarships. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month (except July and December), beginning with an optional potluck dinner at 6:30pm, followed by an interesting and informative program at 7:15. The public is always welcome at Idun Lodge! You do not have to be a member – or even have any Norwegian heritage – to attend.
